Looking for some great spots to shoot the Boston Skyline?
1. Long Wharf
Long Wharf is a great place to capture the Financial District part of the Boston Skyline. The best time to capture this image is during sunset hours as the sun sets right behind the skyline.
2. Soldiers Home
What makes this location unique is that you can capture so much of the city in a single image. From this view, you can see the John Hancock Building, the Prudential Building, the State Street Building, the Leonard P. Zakim Bridge, the Tobin Bridge, and the TD Garden (also known as the Boston Garden or Fleet Center by the locals).
3. The Longfellow Bridge
With the ongoing renovation of the Longfellow Bridge, it may be hard to get this shot right now. However, summer is approaching and construction of the southern part of the bridge is coming to completion. Hopefully soon, things will open up again so you can get this amazing Boston Skyline image.
4. The Esplanade
This location is about the season. I must admit, don’t tell on me, but I did sneak in to get this image because it was closed during the winter. During the summer, it is easier to gain access to the docks to capture this angle of the skyline. This is the Boston side of the Charles River and there are tons of different angles you can capture the skyline along the Esplanade. This a fun spot to shoot so get creative!
5. Memorial Drive
This is a classic Boston Skyline image that every cityscape photographer must have in their arsenal. There are so many different angles in which to capture the Boston Skyline from this side of the Charles River. This view is from Memorial Drive in Cambridge, MA. What is special about this location is the docks: sometimes they are empty and sometimes there are boats (covered or uncovered, depending on the season). Sunset or sunrise, you will be sure to capture a breathtaking image from this side of the Charles!
