I will admit that I get really excited when I order new equipment and it gets delivered. It’s like Christmas for me! Starting photography as a hobby it’s great but when you start reading and watching tutorials, learning about all these awesome equipment and gadgets that other photographers use, it’s very easy to find yourself in debt. However, I have purchased great equipment throughout the years that has helped me take my photography, especially my portrait photography, to another level.
My most recent purchase was a Bowens Travelpack (battery pack). It had been on my wish list for quite some time and I was finally able to justify purchasing it. My main reason for getting the battery pack was to bring my portrait photography outdoors. I didn’t want to be confined to my indoor studio anymore. I had tested it out once before for a maternity shoot (see Kenisha’s Maternity Photo Shoot post) and was really impressed with the result. I went down to Piers Park located in East Boston with my fiancée Iris and a fellow photographer friend Sabino. I started playing around with the lighting with Iris and the results I was getting were unbelievable. She usually doesn’t like taking pictures, yet alone portraits, and gives me a hard time when I ask her to pose for me but I think the beautiful view out into the water got to her and she actually let me take some really nice portraits of her. I also caught some great portraits of Sabino. Getting the Bowens Travelpack was definitely a great investment on my end. Here are some of my favorite shots from the day. Enjoy!
